| Well, our tanning bed lines compare very favorably seeing as how there are no other steel tanning bed system manufacturers with the experience and knowledge that puretan has developed over time. Some companies that claim to have a steel tanning bed refer to the frame or other aspects of the tanning bed. We are the only company putting out 100% steel-built systems. The advantage to that, quite simply, is quality and durability. They don't manufacture cars totally out of steel any longer. This is not because steel was inferior. It is due to the fact they are more costly to develop. Steel does not allow the ability of design variations. | What is Pinnac Energy? |
|
Pinnac Energy is the name of our patented circuitry design (reg. #. 2,438,372 issued March 27, 2001) that is responsible for the equal distribution of power throughout a Puretan tanning bed system, which ensures nice, even tans. Tanning bed systems without this energy design are likely to be wired like a "daisy chain." That means the power travels from ballast to ballast, with the first lamp receiving the most power, the second lamp receiving slightly less and so on until the power reaches the end of the chain. Pinnac Energy features "floating capacitor discharges," which prevents the daisy chain effect. In our tanning bed systems the capacitors power up and then equally distribute the power to three lamp ballasts (three lamps per capacitor). Thus, developing an even tan.

| What is the difference between a 160 w tanning bed lamp and a 140 w tanning bed lamp? Or 180 or 205 for that matter? |
|
| To claim to have a tanning bed lamp with a rating higher than the comparable ballast is a misleading marketing tool at best and dishonest one at worst. Forget about the number, designated "series" or even the suggested wattage of a tanning bed lamp. The most important part of any tanning bed lamp is the filament and phosphors. The ballast is what produces the power for the tanning bed lamp. Ballasts at the indoor tanning bed industry level exist in certain designated wattage values. Tanning bed lamp wattage should be the same as the ballast's. Using a tanning bed lamp that is inconsistent with the ballast not only results in inferior tanning power, but may also cause the tanning bed lamp to stop producing quicker. Having said this, the difference in tanning bed lamps will only operate correctly and last for their expected time limits if matched to the correct ballasts. Tanning bed lamps are developed with different levels of tanning power. But again, make sure you know the wattage of the ballast so you can determine its effect on any tanning bed lamp. |

| The Ellipse III tanning bed is easily the best tanning bed system in my salon. Now that you have introduced the Ellipse IV tanning bed, how do you maintain the series' integrity - its tanning power and comfort level - with just a 10-minute session time? |
|
| We assume you're referring to the 160 w tanning bed lamps in the couch as well as the canopy. As far as the tanning power, the Ellipse IV tanning bed more than lives up to its series' name. What is equally important to note is that we achieve the tanning results and session time without having to relocate the lamps further away from the acrylic surfaces , which is what so many of our competitors find necessary due to extreme heat conditions. It's actually frustrating because dropping the tanning bed lamps to acrylic locations clearly compromises the claimed power. They sell at the higher price while claiming the higher output tanning bed lamps are in their units. It suggests they can make the canopy lamps strong as the sun, providing the couch is approximately 93 million miles away. It borders on being ridiculous. Anyway, Puretan is able to deliver the deep, bronze tan in only ten minutes with the tanning bed lamps in their original positions. This is achieved through very hard work, such as creating a cross-amplified tanning output by controlling air volume and distribution. Air Tunnel Directors are incorporated to direct the influx of air and is exhausted to relieve the hot ends of the tanning bed lamp areas. To make a long answer short, we found a better way to tan as opposed to a better way to market. |

General Technical Support Questions

| I have a lamp that is not lighting, what should I check? |
|
| There are several things to check for this problem. Let's start with the easiest trouble shooting step. First replace the non working lamp with one that is currently lighting. If it is not the lamp, try checking the starter. These are the most common fixes for this problem. If this does not work for you, check the wires to the lamp sockets and make sure they are fully connected. From here, it could be a couple of things. It is possible that the lamp socket(s) are bad and need to be replaced. If the sockets are ok, the last thing to check would be the ballast for the lamp. |

| The bed I purchased has a Puretime digital timer on it already, but we need to connect it to a wall timer. How do I make the two work together? |
|
| The Puretime bed timer needs to be set so the 3rd Party Interface (3P) parameter is set to 1. To do this it helps to have someone help you. First, cut off the power to the bed/timer. When you turn the power on, you will see the timer go through a boot up sequence. When the display shows a double dash (--) on the screen, press and hold SET TIME and START/STOP at the same time. When the screen goes blank, release the buttons. This boot up sequence is pretty quick, so it helps if you have someone that can cut the power off and back on for you, so you can watch the screen for the (--) on the display. Once into the Parameters the first display you will see is OP, then a number. When the display shows the number, press START/STOP, to advance to the next parameter. It will show the next parameter and the setting (number). After the number press START/STOP again...Continue doing this until you see the 3P on the display. After the 3P it will display a zero (0). Press SET TIME to change the parmeter setting from 0 to 1. Press START/STOP to advance. Continue advancing until you get all the way through the settings. At this time the timer will go back through the boot up sequence and take you back to zero (0). Your wall timer will now control the bed timer. |
